The tiny Mediterranean country of Malta is often on the news for the trials and tribulations involving birds, hunters and conservationists. After a 2015 national referendum on Spring hunting ended with a very (very) narrow victory for the hunting camp, there are now discussions around the possibility of a second referendum on the same issue.
In a new blogpost on the Maltese blog Isles of the Left, entitled To Ban or Not to Ban: is That the Question? Brian Campbell and I, discuss this issue and highlight that referendums are not always what they seem.. (#Brexit) and may have long term counter productive consequences, by further polarizing an issue.
Enjoy!
